Book review of 'Totally True Adventures Apollo 13' by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld

Apollo 13 (Totally True Adventures) by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld

The Plot of the Book

‘Totally true adventures Apollo 13’ by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld is a book telling the scintillating tale of the mission Apollo 13, in which things went very wrong due to a blast. It tells how bravely the astronauts Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise managed everything, and focused on their only goal, to reach home.

The book also tells about how they managed to eat and drink, entertain themselves etc. in the space shuttle. It tells about the three parts of the ship, command, service and lunar modules.

My Take on the Book

I really liked this book as I am a space enthusiast, and while reading this book I went on an imaginary space mission myself. I also found it really informative because I want to become an astronaut when I grow up, and this book told me good points about how they ate and drank in space etc.

What I learnt from this book

This book has many important lessons. From the incident where they had lost so much water that they could not take more than 6 ounces (1 glass) of water a day, I learnt that we should not at all be wasting water. Only they could understand how precious water was.

Also, I learnt to work hard from them, they were awake for more than 16 hours, and only slept when the doctor ordered them to. And they were constantly at work.

Another important lesson I learnt is that not to panic, because the way they handled things so calmly impresses me. If I would have been in their place, I cannot fathom how I would have reacted.

All in all, I really enjoyed the book and recommend it to all.

About me

So Friends, I published some articles but I think first I should introduce myself to you.I am a multitasker and I have many hobbies. It would be a pleasure sharing them with you.

I like reading, writing and narrating stories.I like to read those stories, and develop them in my own creative way.I like to think and write more stories because I think that it is really fun to write what is only in your imagination. I like to narrate stories with expression and I somehow turn it into my own words.

I like to speak on occasions or anchor an event or a party because I love hosting events. I also gave a speech when I went in the condolence during the Pulwama terror attack.I also practice anchoring at my home regularly.

I like playing music on the keyboard because it gives me peace of mind, it is very relaxing. I learn the songs from the Internet. I know  to play some songs like the national anthem and happy birthday.

I also incredibly love painting, I paint my drawings and I paint diyas. Whenever I see a new or good painting anywhere I myself try to paint it.

I love playing on iPad and laptops too. I love discovering the new apps and games and I really enjoy playing them.I also like to call my friends to my home and I have a lot of fun with them.

I like playing football and cricket, I know I am not good at those but I still keep trying and I try to do my best.

I like to make food but I can make only a sandwich. I know small things like chopping paneer, I also roll round chapatis. I try helping my mom in whatever she cooks.

Prayer of a nature lover

The birds chirping
The nature reflecting
Beautiful trees swaying
Makes my heart sing

When I close my eyes
I feel there I reached
Oh such a beautiful place
With utter grace

And since my favourite colour is blue
I loved the serene sky and streams too
the snowy mountains
Add so much peace

But after some days
This can vanish away
Because we are cutting so many trees
Which are so grown and green

It really breaks my heart
When somebody ruins the nature's marvellous art
We pollute and destroy our own habitat
Which should be stopped

And to stop it we need to take a small step
We should reduce the use of paper
And stop using it unnecessarily
We need to take a small step

It Felt So Good Inside

Life is a beautiful journey which becomes all the more worthwhile with awesome friends in it. I have been blessed with many such friends and I am extremely grateful to Almighty for conferring me with them. I love my friends a lot and I can't see them in pain.

A couple of weeks back I was playing in the lawns of our society's clubhouse, with my friend Sameer and the excitement and fun of summer vacations was at its peak. We were all over the place, taking turns to enjoy on the multiple slides there.

However, there was a worn out old slide in the secluded corner of the park and mom has already cautioned us not to get on the same, before we left home. We thus avoided it until in sheer happiness of experiencing all the joy rides, Sameer innocently climbed the old rugged slide. Unfortunately, before I could call out to him, the slide tilted on one side and he fell down and bruised his knees badly.

He was crying a lot and no matter how hard I tried he could not stop his tears because of the pain. I felt his pain too and poured all the water in my water bottle over his knees immediately, which he said relieved his pain a little.

As he could not walk, I asked him to rest there and ran to call his mom on the intercom to come and help us but she was not at home and she had gone for an evening walk with my mom.

I then requested guard uncle to help me take him home which he willingly did. I pulled out the medicine, which mom applied on my wounds, from the chest and gently covered his knees with it. I also played cartoon on the T.V. so that he forgets the pain.

In a little while, he felt much better and walked back home with his mom and for me, being able to help my friend, felt so good inside.

This incident further strengthened our bond which grows stronger with every passing day.
